Under the name DronePort Eemshaven, a center will be located at Heliport Eemshaven, from which innovative drone applications such as freight transport to offshore installations, support in emergency situations and SAR missions, monitoring, mapping, surveying, inspections and surveillance will be investigated, initiated and executed.

The initiative for DronePort Eemshaven was taken by the Offshore Wind Innovation Center (OWIC), Groningen Seaports, Ems Maritime Offshore BV / Heliport Eemshaven and DroneQ Robotics.

The plan for the development of DronePort Eemshaven has a directing role for DroneQ, a company and drone operator with experience in setting up and managing drone command centers for maritime applications. In the coming period, various activities will be developed at the Droneport Eemshaven and the aim is to work towards the official opening before the summer.
