
DRONEPORT EEMSHAVEN OFFICIALLY OPEN
Eemshaven, 7 July 2021
DronePort Eemshaven was officially opened today by Groningen Seaports CEO Cas König and EMS Maritime Offshore Managing Director Marcel Diekmann.
DronePort Eemshaven is an initiative of DroneQ Robotics, Offshore Wind Innovation Center (OWIC), EMS Maritime Offshore and Groningen Seaports. The airport for drones is located at the Heliport Eemshaven and is aimed at the offshore wind sector. Training, development and testing with drones and ROVs will be an important part of the activities.

First test flights at Droneport Eemshaven

On February 22, 2021 DroneQ Robotics performed the first test flights on the new Droneport Eemshaven. Thanks to the Heliport Eemshaven for facilitating this day! In the areas of Drone Delivery and SAR and Surveillance services, DroneQ is completing a development and test & validation program and the flights of this day were set up and executed in that context.
It was a successful day, going through all procedures to ensure flight safety and achieve the testing objectives. A very successful day, partly due to the good communication with Heliport Eemshaven air traffic control.
Further test & validation flights are scheduled.

Realization of Droneport Eemshaven

Today 20 January 2021, initiators Groningen Seaports, OWIC and DroneQ Robotics have given the starting shot for the steps to be taken for the construction of a drone port in Eemshaven. Under the name DronePort Eemshaven, a center will be located at Heliport Eemshaven, from which innovative drone applications such as freight transport to offshore installations, support in emergency situations and SAR missions, monitoring, mapping, surveying, inspections and surveillance will be investigated, initiated and executed.
The initiative for DronePort Eemshaven was taken by the Offshore Wind Innovation Center (OWIC), Groningen Seaports, Ems Maritime Offshore BV / Heliport Eemshaven and DroneQ Robotics.
The plan for the development of DronePort Eemshaven has a directing role for DroneQ, a company and drone operator with experience in setting up and managing drone command centers for maritime applications. In the coming period, various activities will be developed at the Droneport Eemshaven and the aim is to work towards the official opening before the summer.
